The Recycle for Wales Bridgend Food Recycling Mission Poster Competition is open to primary schools in the Bridgend County Borough area delivering Key Stage 2 education. Entries must be submitted by a teacher or parent/guardian of a registered school on behalf of an entrant.

Teachers must firstly register to receive the mission briefing and resources through the Bridgend Food Recycling Mission website at https://foodrecyclingmission.org.uk/https://foodrecyclingmission.org.uk/bridgend/.

Secondly the school should deliver the classroom activity from the teacher’s pack received on registration.

To enter the promotion a pupil must work with their parents to investigate the unavoidable food waste left over from the meals they eat at home over one weekend and list them in the Food Waste Diary, visit the ELECTROGENERATOR to explore how much energy different unavoidable food waste items could generate if they were recycled and create a poster to design their own ‘magic machine’ that turns food waste into energy.

Submission of one photo via the website which displays an entrant’s recycling poster or the poster itself constitutes one entry. Each entrant may only submit one entry. If multiple entries are received from the same entrant then only their first entry will be considered. The homework sheet is also the competition entry form (although the Promoter will also accept designs drawn on plain A4 paper).

To enter the poster competition, the parents will need up upload their child’s poster via the website by taking a photo of it on their phone before midnight on 28th February 2019. If pupils don’t have access to a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer at home, the Promoter will accept scanned posters emailed to recycleforwales@wrap.org.uk or paper copies posted to:

WRAP Cymru, 5-7 Cathedral Road, Cardiff, CF11 9HA

Note that paper entries will not be returned.
